Toto - Kingdom of Desire (1992)

A Welcome Departure for a solid band

Rather than holding onto the over-the-top synthesized glossiness of the eighties, Toto decided to take a much more raw bluesy approach on KOD. Steve Lukather lends his slightly raspy vocals to these uptempo rockers. The band sounds and feels more like a band on this album than on any other before.

Sadly, drummger Jeff Porcaro died shortly after the recording and just before the release of this gem, prompting Toto to take their music in yet another new direction. One can only wonder where Toto would be today had they continued down this musical path.
