Yes - Drama (1980)

Drama is often considered the "black sheep" of Yes albums as it's the only one without the trademark falsettos of founding member/vocalist Jon Anderson. Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes of The Buggles stepped in to replace Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman.

After this album Horn effectively retired from singing to instead pursue production and Downes left Yes along with Steve Howe to form the group Asia.

I actually really enjoy this album, maybe it's because Asia is one of my favorite groups and this was a preview of what was to come-- a step in the evolution of a supergroup if you will.

Within the 10 bonus tracks are 4 songs which feature Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman. It's like glancing through a mirror of "what if." It gives an interesting picture of what Drama would have sounded like had Wakeman and Anderson stuck around.

It's an album to set aside your preconceived notions of Yes, just enjoy it for its own sake.
